Online Medical Direction Program

Global has developed a complete Online Medical Direction Program consisting of two components. With this program, workers with health emergencies can receive a level of care that was previously only available by visiting a physician or an emergency department.
  • Emergency Medical Support
Global’s multiple-member physician team is available 24/7 (by emergency pager) with a response time of less than four minutes. This service was developed and designed for rural and remote sites, while complementing the capabilities and procedures of the provinces’ Emergency Health Services systems. Global’s physicians provide advice directly to care providers working with sick and/or injured workers.
  • Urgent Medical Support
Minor illnesses and injuries occur on a daily basis on the jobsite, and in remote areas paramedics are often called upon for medical advice. Unfortunately, many paramedic-training programs do not focus on primary care (non-emergency) medicine. Thus, the urgent medical support component allows care providers to readily consult our response team for guidance on the treatment of primary care issues that may otherwise require a clinic or hospital visit.
