This workshop is designed to increase awareness of the unique factors inherent to special population patient groups. The assessment of these patients requires additional attention to the subtle signs and symptoms, broader diagnostics, and a detailed history.

[NEW!] Managing the Complex Surgical Patient (CIW-MCSP)

This workshop is designed for health care professionals who manage preoperative patients and therefore often are confronted with complex surgical patients. Drawing upon well established evidence, it will focus on the overall care of these patients including; identifying risk factors, the steps for systematic assessment, and care strategies that can minimize complications.

This workshop is designed for health care professionals who work as part of a trauma team and focuses on the essential hands on aspects of trauma care. Pediatric Critical Care Interventions (PCIW)

Critical Intervention Workshop for Nurses (N-CIW)

Created for Med/Surg nurses, the N-CIW is aimed at increasing the participants’ comfort level when faced with the most likely medical emergencies that they could potentially see in their patient population. Using an interactive, small group case based format, participants will review initial emergency management.  read more »

Critical Intervention Workshop for Physicians (MD-CIW)

Created for physicians, and taught by experienced emergency physicians. The MD-CIW provides a practical skills update on crash cart equipment, reviewing the most likely medical emergencies that they could potentially see in their patient population. Critical Intervention Workshop for Non-Hospital Facilities (NH-CIW)

Designed to review and test emergency response procedures in Non-Hospital settings, such as private surgery centers, outpatient and diagnostic facilities. The NH-CIW is a case based workshop. A methodical approach is used to review the most common medical condition scenarios including chest pain, anaphylaxis, diabetic emergencies, respiratory emergencies, syncope, and seizures.  read more »
