
Dr. Holmes is the President of Global Medical Services. He has extensive experience in providing education to health care providers from first responders to fellow emergency physicians. He has created a number of unique programs for all provider levels.
In addition to teaching ACLS for the past 18 years, Dr. Holmes has facilitated over 100 educational programs across Canada. He is an internationally recognized speaker in the areas of pre-hospital AED programs, CBRN programs and recently as a leading pandemic planning expert.
Dr. Erik Vu
Dr. Vu is an Emergency Physician at Vancouver General Hospital and Clinical Instructor in the Division of Emergency Medicine at the University of British Columbia, where he also completed Fellowship training in Emergency Medical Services and Critical Care Transport.
As the Associate Medical Director for Global Medical Services (GMS), Dr. Vu is called upon to provide medical oversight and to develop/deliver pre-hospital programs for Public Access Defibrillation, and volunteer/professional Fire Rescue Services throughout Canada. Additionally, he has been instrumental in the development of Critical Intervention Workshops at the physician, nurse and pre- hospital care level.
Dr. Vu has been teaching ACLS at GMS since 2003. Additionally, he has been teaching courses in CPR, and AED since 1999.
Tracy Paul Barill, BSN, M.Ed
Mr. Barill has been a critical care practitioner and educator for the past 16yrs. His clinical experience spans intensive care, coronary care, emergency nursing, flight nursing and community based care for those with multiple disabilities.
He has facilitated over 500 ACLS courses since 1989. Additionally, Mr. Barill teaches programs in basic and advanced ECG interpretation, critical intervention workshops and various customized programs throughout the province.
Michael Dare, RN, BPE, EMT-P
Mr. Dare has an extensive teaching and clinical background in ER, ICU, CSICU, and CCU. As an advanced life support paramedic he has worked in both rural and urban settings and extensively as a flight paramedic.
Since 1987, Mr. Dare has coordinated over 500 ACLS courses. He also teaches PALS, ITLS, basic and advanced ECG interpretation, critical intervention workshops and various customized programs province wide.
Holding a specialized degree in outdoor sports Michael has over 25 yrs experience in high altitude mountaineering, rock and ice climbing, mountain biking, kayaking and back country skiing. He has been the team leader and organizer of several successful international climbing expeditions. Mr. Dare has extensive experience in high altitude and wilderness medicine and he brings expertise in critical thinking, leadership, and team building into all the courses he teaches.
Thora Barnes, RN
Ms. Barnes is Registered Nurse based out of Cranbrook. She is the Clinical Nurse Educator for East Kootenay Regional Hospital. She has a post basic specialty in the ICU, Emergency and PACU. Ms. Barnes has taught ACLS for Global Medical Services since 2002. Additionally she is certified to teach PALS, ITLS and TNCC.
